Vacation!!!

So the BF and I have a week of vacation in between our semesters in school, so we are now at my moms house in NY. I miss being here so much. The trees, the birds, and the old house...it all makes this place so nice to visit (plus my family of corse!!). The BF decided to put a new flower bed in the front yard, so while he is working on that, I went around the house and the yard and took photos of my favorite things....enjoy...

front yard being worked on...

a single tulip growing on the side yard...

currently the backyard is looking more like a jungle...

The shed sitting on the corner of the property...(when i lived here i wanted to turn it into my studio...until i found out a gofer had made a hole in the floor..hmmm)

a view from the yard looking at the new deck...since we have gotten here, we have had many meals on the deck and it is so peaceful...very relaxing.

I just love this house and everything about it...it feels like home, is rich in character and over 100 years old, and it is cozy and warm... all good elements to kick back and relax...

inside, i want to share some photos because sometimes i cant believe my mom decorated on such a budget. she really amazes me sometimes and what we did in the house was done for cheap!!!

view into the kitchen from the deck... we were lucky enough to have the kitchen remodeled when we moved in, so mom just jazzed it up a bit with the swag curtians...

The living room...the painting above the sofa was a christmas gift from my uncle, whos artist. It has the eiffel tower, and her 3 kids in hot air balloons surrounding it. He also incorperated the house in a back corner. Needless to say, she cried when she opened it.

The dining room...we found the table at a local antique shop for $100.00!!! We painted it white and stenciled fleur-de-lis on it and it works great in this room! The chandelier is from HSN, on sale.

my moms room...this is the best room out of the whole house. It gets the most sunlight and has the most privacy, not to mention the walk in closet. She did this room for DIRT CHEAP...getting things from the family, passed down, or from antique shops...

Lastly, but certianly not least, our pet guinea pig, Oscar.

He is just so precious, we all love him so dearly. We gave him a bath today and he was so good...

ok, time for bed, tomorrow I'm picking out more favorite things....

Home Sweet Home

So I thought to get to know me a little better, you should see where I live.

I currently reside in Brookline, MA a hop skip and jump away from my school. We are lucky to live in a community that has tennis courts, a swimming pool and a gym all in the middle of the city! Here is a view of the front water features...

We stumbled upon this place while my BF was working on a job site, and after sleeplessly searching for months on the internet, the BF says 'oh i found our place' in a single day! Needless to say, I still don't understand how everything comes so easily for him!! (i am, of corse, glad he found this place, though!) So here's our living room:

our new sofa, in brown...I'm still trying to find the right pillows...
The painting above the sofa was a gift from the BF's parents, an original from france of Notre-Dame.

my woodsy candles on the vintage turkish table in the living room:

the cute little squares drawn by my BFF, kate:

The photos i put up next to our coat closet. I had this in mind even before we moved in, it is the first thing you see, and each photo has our closest family members in it. I love it because when i come home, it is the first thing I see and reminds me of my mom!

This was my 22nd birthday gift from my godmother...i just love it, even though i may be too old for a dollhouse...lol. It rests on our all season room, and I love looking at it.

The BF's corner...he loves to paint and create. I am so excited about his newest project...a cube painting....(ooo i see it over my desk when its done!!). Please ignore the ugly pillows under the easel (remnients of the BF...glad he didnt decorate the apartment!).

our kitchen was pretty blah...so i decided to take matters into my own hands and put up these cute pineapple stickers (found at the dollar store).

Our side table... my magazines, BF's candles, remnants of easter, and tissues...we seem to go through them like water....

Ok, so this isn't all of our apartment, I will post our dining room and bedroom later...

So today me and my BF had a huge argument. Complete blow out that made me stomp off to Starbucks and drink 3x the daily recommended amount of caffeine. . Sitting there, computer in tow of corse, I thought about our relationship and how much sacrifice we each have to make. We are new at this whole living together thing, and it really is hard work!! As per our routine of any argument we get in, we left each other alone for about an hour and then fell rushing into each others arms once we were reunited. It's plain and simple- we cant live without each other. We bicker and argue over stupid things, but we always make up in a timely manner, and never ever go to bed angry (a wonderful piece of advice given to me by my aunt).

I hope everyone has a significant other that you simply cant live without.

To make up for his wrong-doing, the BF decided to take me to a place I have been drooling over for 6 months...Finale. An awesome dessert place that was wayyy to classy for my black sweatpants and tower of terror T-shirt (in my defense, I didn't know we were going there and I thought we were going for a late night stroll).  We went inside and found a lovely setting of rich reds and black- perfect decor for this place. Once we looked over the menu for about 20 minutes, going back and forth on what to get, we decided on the sampler.

Quite the experience! I paired it with mint tea, while BF had a teeny tiny espresso. Yes, it was a bit pricy, but soooo worth it!!! If your in Boston, definitely try finale!!

In other news, here is a sample of some things I'm working on....

Ok, off to bed...
